grudges and regrets

Why haven’t we evolved beyond the point of holding grudges and having regrets? How do they benefit us in the long run. Holding a grudge in the Paleolithic era would have gotten you killed or shunned from tribed. Having regrets could indicate making the wrong choices based on gut or instinct that could result in a bad outcome.
Then again, we could be evolving to have those things as to not make the same mistake again and the smartest and most logical will rise.
