Not Knowing

Riding on different waves,
Heading in different ways,
Not knowing if this will all end.

Time starts passing by,
Never thought to say goodbye,
Not knowing if I will see you again.

Once was close, now is far,
Falling away like a shooting star,
Not knowing if we are less than friends.

Without a doubt, I try to reach out,
Trying to find what this is about,
Not knowing if I need to make amends.

I call and I text, I’m so perplexed,
I’m so unsure of what to do next,
Not knowing if this is beginning a trend.

Was I misled? Is it all in my head?
Do I press the issue or back off instead?
Not knowing if I completely comprehend.

Is it just me? Something I didn’t see?
Thoughts in my mind, what could it be?
Not knowing if my heart can contend.

All the time we share, do you still care?
I’m caught up in a whirlwind of despair,
Not knowing if it was all just pretend.

This road I ride, of feeling alone inside,
I feel left behind with no one in sight,
Not knowing if the emptiness will descend.

No, I must move on, arise and be strong,
What’s gone is gone, a new day will dawn,
Now knowing… all things must come to an end.
